Hosta 'Blushing Blue'

Post by sugar »

This is one of my first seedlings. H. longipes var hypoglauca x H. Salute.
I will be registring this one next year under the name Hosta 'Blushing Blue'. The plant will also be put into tissue culture.

Hosta Registry - not in the registry as of 09/2015

That's beautiful Sugar. Nice to hear from you, by the way!

Does it keep that purple/red color all year or does it come and go? I'll be looking forward to seeing it on the market. Hopefully it will be in tissue culture in the US some time.

Thanks for sharing it!

@ all : Thanks for the compliments.

It fades away, but it's not a 'Purple Haze' clone, it is present for several weeks. The leaves on the flower stems last year were also deep red

A very nice hosta...I would be thrilled to have it in my garden. I'm not sure that the name will be approved, however, since it is very similar to 'Blue Blush', an Eric Smith cultivar registered in 1988.
