Holly's Dazzler is a large green plant from Holly's Honey selfed. It has a ventricosa heritage which can be seen in its bell-shaped flowers.

Some more shots of Holly's Dazzler focusing on the flowers. The "darker" looking ones were taken in early morning light. The "lighter" looking ones were taken about 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Holly's Dazzler
The Hosta Library says "Medium green, glossy foliage is great but the fragrant purple flowers will dazzle you." are the flowers fragrant? If so wouldn't that indicate plantaginea in the background also?
Re: Hosta of the Day - Holly's Dazzler
I think the report of "fragrant purple flowers" is wrong. This flower is typical for a ventricosa background.
Never stuck my nose in it - I'll check but I doubt it. Point of interest - I rarely get fragrance on plants but last season, the day after it had rained all day I did notice a strong fragrance in plants that should have fragrance - Fragrant Bouquet, and a sport of Paradise Sunshine and something in my junk area all had strong fragrance in the morning. It was so unusual that I checked out an Iron Gate Supreme (which never seemed to have fragrance) and it had fragrance too - and that's a different cross family.
