Was outside cleaning up and putting in some more sprinklers in when I found this under some leave litter
I think this June thinks it's a crocus, cause nothing else is up but a few crocus and some daffodils. Don't think it's going to last long.

Owen, we have some here that are leafing out already too! What can you say when we are 10 degrees above normal
already. Get the slug bait out to save June!!

I'm in zone 5 maybe 6. Way to early for Hostas. It's supposed to snow tonight too, bleh. Might have to cover it up and see if I can save it.

Re: Hosta with Crocus issues
So sorry to hear you may get snow again but snow is a good thing! It's the cold that is the harm in my book when plants are up
when it's to early. We are in shock to see things in bloom here so early too as our last date of frost is a month away. But El Nino is
doing it's thing this year and the old earth is changing drastically. I have lilies up almost 3 inches due to the higher temps we are having
here. It is so warm here the Brugmansia are starting to grow in the Brug House already. I have a new seedling in there that has reached
the top of the 10 foot ceiling and no 'Y' yet so yesterday I had to cut it back! There is no way I could safely get it out of the B-House without
breaking it so it was time to take the nippers to it. Then where is one that is about that tall and in buds already, last year it didn't bloom until
fall when our temps got high. Things are a changing.

That one is really in a hurry! There must have been a little micro-climate there that woke it up a little too early. The poor little guy should have stayed asleep!

Snows come and gone. It's close to my home, but there are several others with it that are still in the ground where they belong. Looking at it I think only a couple of the eyes came up and the rest are waiting.

Re: Hosta with Crocus issues
Wow, that's amazing that it wants to come up so soon. While it sure is a welcome sign that spring is coming that's way too early and you may just be better off letting it get frosted rather than trying to save it. In the past I've seen better results just letting those really early ones fend for themselves rather than try to save them, with the ones that totally frosted out early having better foliage in the summer while the ones I tried to protect looked worse later on. A month from now might be a different story, but for now I just say let mother nature takes its own course with this one.
