'Bulletproof' - Hosta of the Day - add your photos

Post by ViolaAnn »

H. 'Bulletproof'

Most of the information about this one lists it as a sport of ‘Halcyon’. But it may also be a reversion of ‘Touch of Class’. That’s what mine is. The leaves have much more substance than ‘Halcyon’. At any rate, mine actually came from sections of my ‘Touch of Class’ turning blue. I’ve decided to call it ‘Bulletproof’. I’ve been growing it as a separate plant since about 2010.

Ann,

You can't really call it a "reversion" from Touch of Class, as TOC came from June and not from a solid-colored plant. You can call it an all-green (blue, if you will) sport of TOC. Presumably the ploidy carries through from the parent in that case.

I'm aware of that, but when the topic first came up, Chris said that is what Q & Z does.

Legitimately 'Bulletproof' or not, this one is growing very well. Photo 2015 - Aug. 13.
