AHS Convention "Back To The Future"
Did any one go? Any photos? Reports?
Thanks, from one who did not get to go. It's on my bucket list, though.

Re: AHS Convention "Back To The Future"
I think it will have to be something for my bucket list too. Sometimes it is a week or longer before I even get to leave here for a little while, usually just to run to the bank or something, so there isn't any way for me to leave for a convention. Would love to see some pictures or hear about it though
Re: AHS Convention "Back To The Future"
I will get some photos up in a while. They are still in my camera.

Re: AHS Convention "Back To The Future"
I was there, too. Frankly, I wasn't able to get many good pictures. It was SOOOO hot, and I think hostas simply don't get to an impressive size down there. A pity. The Hosta Show was pretty good, though. I didn't make the head table (best of section), but I won a number of rather competitive best of class ribbons.
I will be writing up a visit to one of the gardens for the Online Hosta Journal, which comes out sometime this fall.
And it was cool (in the way; in fact it was impossibly hot) to visit Plant Delights and the associated botanical garden. We didn't buy any hostas there, but did get a few other things (with a bit of zone denial going on).

I went down I-81 to see some caverns before the convention. Stopped at Bristol Caverns in Tennessee and got this "fun" shot while I was waiting for them to open.

That is neat, Ed. David, after seeing hostas in Michigan and Wisconsin, I don't think hostas get as large in Washington either.

A bunch of photos from Tony Avant's Plant Delights Nursery. It was hot in the garden. The dinner there was catered by Caraba's with Chicken Marsala.
I went to the Natural History Museum in Raleigh in the morning - lots of whales: Then to Plant Delights in the afternoon. I did pick up a couple of plants - Cabaret and High Fashion.
Here is Stargazer: I didn't get the names on the next two:

Thanks for sharing those pics of Plant Delights, Ed. I really was so heat-drained I took almost none, where I'm usually the shutterbug.
I think that century plant (agave) blooming could be the furthest north outdoor-planted bloomer in modern times. Amazing. And so sad that after it blooms, the crown dies.

Lynn and I were supposed to go this year but work would not give her the time off until just after we had cancelled. Another year hopefully

In my "new garden" topic I had discussed finding this beautiful example of High Fashion and getting into a discussion on the "white line" - whether it should be there or not.

I went back to my original posting of "Hosta of the Day" for High Fashion back in 2013 and noted the same thing - it has the classic Striptease white stripe.
