Hosta of the Day #2 - Kiwi Dotterel

Post by redcrx »

Kiwi Dotterel is a sport of Striptease. It comes up with bright leaves in the Spring that change color during the season. It's name comes from a New Zealand waterbird.

I have had this plant since since 2009. I potted it in 2014 to keep the voles from getting it.

There are more photos of Kiwi Dotterel showing its color-change sequence in the Strip Poker topic:

Here it is last season - when I dug it up in 2014 I ended up with two pieces.
That's Strip Poker bottom/center, Patricia the Stripper left edge/bottom (it was dug from the same garden to protect it). The white centered piece center/top is "Golden Garters" (one of my Striptease sports - I didn't realize I still had two pieces of it.)

You sure do know how to hunt down a lot of these unusual and somewhat obscure sports, don't you Ed :) Thank you for sharing them here!
