I know folks like to see this. It got rejuvenated a few years back and is as big as ever.

Whenever I think of Sagae, I think of yours, Tigger, as the finest example I ever saw, posted many years ago. How (and why) did you "rejuvenate" that whopper clump? Did it get fairy ring or just run out of space?

Re: Sagae, 2016
It had grown a bit misshapen (planted on a slight slope, this will happen) and had died out in the center. We dug it up (yuuuge!), trying to damage the roots as little as possible, and sort of re-formed the clump (slightly oval, but the best we could do). A few divisions didn't fit back in and got potted up; these went into the ground this spring as a clump of 7-8 divisions.
I did a photo essay of the work for our local society newsletter. I think I'll upload it to our website tonight (it was the previous year from what I have archived at delvalhosta.org).

Tigger- Your Delaware Valley Hosta Society website is beautifully done. Nice job! I poked around a bit, but couldn't locate your photo essay regarding Sagae. Is it in a newsletter? I would love to see how you managed it. Wasn't the original plant at least 6' or more across?

Re: Sagae, 2016
The photo essay was in a newsletter back in volume 21, I think. Yes, Sagae has been that big for a number of years.
You can take a trip in the wayback machine to see what it looked like in (guessing) spring, 2001.

(I used a number of the web pages there for content for our own DVHS website.)

I hope you search the center of that monster on a regular basis. No tellin' what you might find. Like your lost keys. Or the car that they start!
