capitata is a medium sized plant with a slight wave in the leaf. It is a species. The flower-head forms a "ball" shape.

I have had this plant for at least eight seasons. It has stayed small and survived the deer fence being put on top of it.
Here it is in 2010.
And in 2011 with flowers and seed pods.

There was some discussion about a white-flowered H. capitata on FB recently. Seemed odd to me.

My capitata started blooming this morning. These are pictures of the purple and lavender flowered capitata.

I also have the white flowered one (capitata 'Albiflora') in a pot because I'm attempting some crosses on it. I personally find it more beautiful than the purple/lavender one.
