Hosta of the Day - American Choice

Post by redcrx »

'American Choice' is a stabilized sport of 'Breeder's Choice'. It is a medium sized plant with a wide white edge.

I have had this plant around for many years. While getting photos a couple of days ago it struck me as to how good it was looking at this time of year.
( It's not really 'American Choice' - it came in as 'Breeder's Choice' and immediately went to look like Van Wade's 'American Choice'.)

I notice that some folks are showing flowers from crosses with this hosta. Mine is growing in a lot of shade and doesn't flower - maybe I should move it out and let it flower - hmm, I know just the spot but I need a bigger pot. I have an area that's getting overrun with clausa normalis that is escaping from its own bed - I can put some large pots there.
