The only thing I grow that looks like that is Hosta 'Jaws'. Not sure if the flowers match that one or not.

Thanks Chris. I just realized what plant this is. It's one I got from Art Wrede in 2014 and I put a picture of it last season on the "flower" topic I post on https://www.perennialreference.com/foru ... 60#p503060 That flower matches the flower in the Hosta Library.

But this season the flower is early and different from last season. This plant has a very twisted tip and the first photo of "Jaws" on the Hosta Library seems to match the twist. So I'm guess you are right about it being "Jaws" . I have to check for the serrated edge shown in the Hosta Library.

The big question - can a hosta change its flower so drastically - striping seems different and the anthers are different.

Please ignore my last post about the flowers - I was looking at the wrong plant.

Things are so dry here that the flowers on my Jaws aren't developing well, but the color and stripe pattern appears to be about the same. I'll try to remember getting a picture when I'm out there.
