I think it's got what I call the late season uglies - too much water, too much sun, too much critter activity. See what it looks like in the spring.

Probably was growing in way too much sun and cooked during the heat.

Okay, so hostas can overheat and "cook" as well; that's good to know, since my husband and I were thinking about buying one of these houses in Greece for our later years, where I would be able to grow everything I want to, should the climate allow it! So, could hostas be grown there, wouldn't the weather be too hot and the the ground too dry?

PS: my USDA region says "Greece", I don't live there yet, I filled this as I registered on this forum to ask questions about hostas there.
