Well, I've got probable good news and potential bad news.
The probable good news! It looks like you have a number of viable buds there.
The potential bad news! They look like they may be coming from shoots below ground. That's not necseearily bad, but many wisteria are grafted and those could be from below the graft. That means there is a possability the "new" shoots aren't the same variety you planted. Either way, I think it will make it.
Put a small fence around it and get a good recipe for rabbit stew. :D :D

I was going to say that it's not that easy to kill a wisteria. :D I had no idea that some of them were grafted. :o I knew OED would know the answer.

It may or may not be a graft. If it is, there will probably be a thicker area where it was grafted. It shouldn't hurt to dig down a bit and look for it. If that particular wisteria has bloomed in the past, it would be worth it to just let it bloom again and hope for the best. Definately worth a try. Especially if it's older. Most of the shoots comming from the ground AWAY from the main stalk will be root suckers. I'd cut thos off, low, even if it was all the same. That is, unless your making a shrub out of it.
