Gorgeous clemmie!

How old is the little darling? I have a Snow Queen that is going into it's 3rd season and is already starting to leap, but it isn't that full yet.

Love the color too!

Thanks everyone! You would have to ask how old....Shoot, it's a few years.............

There was two of them that size on the laddis.....but something happened to the other one last year. Half of it just like died. It was like it got cut off at the ground.....It's still there but really small....

Thanks again!! :D

Oh, my glory! They get more beautiful every year. I would die of happiness to have Clematis like that. My two are still rather scrawney and not at all the red color that showed on the box. That's what I get for purchasing them at one of the marts. Thank you so much, Kathleen, for posting a photo of your gorgeous Clems. And that trellis Jay made for you is fantastic.

Terrific blooms Goosey .. is it Nellie Moser?
The clematis that got 'cut off at the ground' probably suffered clematis wilt. Clematis should be planted 3-4 inches below the 'pot line'. My Hagley Hybrid did the same to me on a couple of occasions. Now it is as right as rain

So? Can you heal up the soil around them to make them further underground if at first you didn't? Or do you have to wait till they die back to that now?

I would have thought the best thing to do would be to replant the clematis whilst dormant ??
On the other hand, if you have never had any problems, why bother?
And, yes ... you could build up the soil as a precaution :)
