Clematis mystery

I've have this for years, and it's one of those mysteries. I have no idea where it came from. It just appeared one day (either that, or I have a split personality, and she shops for plants when I'm not around). A friend of mine calls it jackmanii, but I really have no idea.

Could it be a seedling? I've never had one come up, but you folks in the PNW seem to be able to do anything with a plant. :P
The green stamen say Jackmanii, but not the crimson bar on the petals. :hmm:

That's why I think it's not jackmanii, OED. It just doesnt quite match. And I was thinking it was a seedling, too. I just didn't know what the odds were of that happening. You never know, I guess!

The closer look makes me think of 'Barbara Jackman'.
That's awful purdy to be a seedling, or your one, lucky gal.

Doris, is it a deep purple? I have this one, and can't remember, but I think it's the C. Rouge Cardinal. Hate when I lose tags :( Mine just started to bloom over the weekend. It's a deep color with a redder strip down the center and yellow stamens.
