Clematis
Oh my goodness....I have been looking at a Clemmie site that is recommended elsewhere....
I have to put more vines on the back fence, Pia has said...(I have to blame someone, right?) I have the vines that Bro gave me, Sweet Autumn and Honeysuckle) and I am hoping they really fill out this year....but, I think I need more....Well, a couple...for real, just a couple...
Here is what I liked....but what are must haves?
Muli-Blue.....must have, I know
Marmori....
MikeLite....I thought it would look pretty with the Marmori
Rouge Cardinal
HF Young
Etoile Violette
Kiri Te Kanana.......it's a pretty double
Liberation...
Thanks in advance!!

Bro, I have Josephine.....Remember? I got one for me and PeggyB.....But it didn't do much at all last year....it had some wilt.....I am hoping for it to do better this year....It's beautiful.
Here is the Marmori.....
Here is MikeLite...can you see them together?
Anyone know about this one? I love it!! I will e-mail the people who sell it to make sure it is hardy for me.
Florida Siebodii-----sometimes called “Choir Boy”
Kiri Te Kanawa
Etoile Violette----also called “Violet Star”
Now I hope I didn't do anything wrong coping these....aren't they pretty?

Hardiness
I sit here on the border of Zone 4 and 5 and lived in Chicago for 20, and I am not sure all the one you mentioned are truly hardy for Z5.
The ones OED recommended are good ones and I think have the vote of the Chicago Botanical Garden.
Just a thought...I do not have zone envy...I do not have zone envy....I do not have zone envy....

Re: Hardiness
Well, well, well.....We are in luck!! I just got an e-mail telling me the zones....Man, this girl wrote me a page, and acted like she knew me.... Excellent!!DryGulch wrote:Just a thought...I do not have zone envy...I do not have zone envy....I do not have zone envy....
Okay.....
Marmori....zone 4-9 Yippeee
Multi-Blue....zone 4-9 (I was pretty sure this one was okay.)
Mike Lite....zone 3-9 Yippeee...wonderful hardy free flowering she says.
Florida Siebodii....As far as Florida S goes I know some do grow it in the colder zones and it will flower. I have some seedlings I am raising that are a cross. They sure are hardy. If they turn out to be close I will let you know. I wanted that one...
Etoile Violette ...zone 3-9 growing blooming fool she says.
Kiri te Kanawa....4-9 nice too
Now, I have thinking to do.....

LG!
OED just beat me to the punch! I was going to suggest the same.
I just started a few clemmies for the first time last year and I can't WAIT to see if I was successful in keeping them around. I know I've seen Etoile Violette in person and it is beautiful. I was not familiar with the others, so thanks for sharing the info. oh no Now I have more plants to add to my "must buy" list
I have been thinking of getting SAC to climb over my shed. Is that one of the slightly shade tolerant ones? The spot I am thinking of putting it will be dappled shade until about 9AM then full sun until noon. Do you think SAC would be happy there?
Good luck getting ALL you're new babits and I'm sorry FL won't work in your area

I agree OED, she should be arrested. This is the second time she sent me, the clematis killer, that site. It really is a great site, LucyGoose!
