Clematis Sweet Autumn

Post by Mary Ann »

A tiny rooting from OED, this vine has covered my fence in less than 2 years. Next year I'll train it better. Thanks, Bob. :D

I like the airiness of yours, Lucy. Mine wasn't cut either, but got lots of water cuz there are big hosta beds on both sides of that fence.

Mine is still in bud. It's one of the fastest growing clematis' I have though.

GF, is this the same as what they call "Old man's beard" in GB?
In this area the SAC has naturalized all over the place. Some are 20-30 ft up in the trees.

Very nice~

Mine is about 4 or 5 years old, from seed, but has not yet bloomed-- will it ever? Nice sunny location, good soil...

Any help appreciated!

Old Man's beard has an almost insignificant cream flower and covers the hedgerows around here. It's especially noticeable in autumn when the seed heads which give it its common name are clearly seen.
