New Clematis

Post by eastwood2007 »

This clematis I received mail order about 2 weeks ago. It was nice sized for mail order, but only in a 3 inch pot. I thought these looked like buds, but couldn't imagine on such a small plant...but guess what? It bloomed sitting in a south facing window while waiting for the bad weather to pass. A very pleasant surprise. Variety is Ruutel. :D

I've marveled at the many buds on tiny clematis at nurseries. I thought there was a flower to leaf ratio? Or, maybe that's roses?

I bought this one EOS clearance at Lowe's for a dollar. It flowered for me on October 17th, and it's raring to grow today, looks like a small shrub already. Got to love Clematis. :D

Beautiful, Mary Ann, and quite a bargain! I don't know much about clematis, but I surely expected it to be bigger befor it would bloom. There is another one I got at the same time, only it was bareroot and no foliage at all. It is making 2 good-sized buds and it is now only about 7" tall. That one is 'Versailles'. As you say, ya gotta love em! :D :D :D

What I've learned after losing many over the years, plant them very deep. Good luck with yours. :D
