New Seedling

Post by kHT »

Several years back a Canadian hybridizer sent me seeds that I followed her instructions to a 'T' and awaited for them to grow. Nothing all winter and when spring came I forgot one day I had left the door open in the old greenhouse. Well the squirrels found some good eating and knocked over this tray and 4 orchids. I was so careful to scoop it all back up as these seeds were special. By fall still no seedlings so I thought all was lost, I took them to a special safe place in the yard and marked the spot Canada clemmies. Last spring to my surprise there were 4 seedlings that I carefully poted up and cared for. I recently bought a new obelisk to replace the one lost when the tree fell and this is now their home. When I put them on last week I didn't note a bud on this plant but one on the other, this one was a surprise. I just love the color and the ruffled edge. What ya think??

Very pretty!!! I've been looking for an obelisk to grow Clematis on, but can't find them tall enough. Where did you get yours and how tall is it?

baja220, hope you can make out the new obelisk in this shot, if now I'll try to get a better shot in the morning. It's huge and I have five clemmies growing up on her. We have a store called Bi Mart that you have to pay dues to and can get lower prices. Its a small employee owned store I just love.

baja220, here are more shots of the Obelisk, they are much cooler than the flat trellises. I start picking them up now or really spring if I find one I like.

Will post a bigger view when I get more done, they say rain today so I'm trying to get the entryway finished so the plants can go back in there. I promise to post them soon, I'm just a one person painting crew!!

That's beautiful Karma!!! Maybe I should start looking at those places that sell big yard lights. Maybe they have them.
Thanks for taking the time to take pics. Enjoy your painting!!
