Dec-Mar flowering clematis.

I've just been reading in our weekly gardening newspaper (Garden News) about a new variety of clematis called "Snowbells" that has been developed in Holland by crossing traditional plants with Chinese clematis that grow in the mountain forests.

They are evergreen and have white flowers. They are also 100% resistant to wilt.

The buds are creamy lime coloured in December and make a fantastic show followed by pure white flowers from mid-January onwards.

They cost £16 ($32)

Very interesting... Sounds great for those in mild climates or with a greenhouse or conservatory. I'll have to google when I've got time and see if I can find a picture. They should be quite popular I would think. If not at first maybe once they have been around a while & the price comes down...

Thanks for posting that bit of information for us! I always enjoy reading about new "developments".

If I lived in the UK I would have these on order by now!
They call them "hardy" but I guess that can't mean the same as a hardy plant here. I can't believe that it blooms Jan-Mar and shrugs off snow!!! Amazing. Thank you for sharing that info and I really hope you've ordered one!

I'm not spending any more on this garden, we are selling the house soon and moving to the other side of the country.
