Group Two - The larger flowered hybrids
Group members include the larger flowered hybrids which flower on the previous season's growth and sometimes flower a second time in late summer on new growth. Pruning should be completed around February (late winter).

Pruning should be completed around February in what state?

I just purchased Fireworks.

Hey MR, I had to check my clemmie specialist's site and I know she is up higher so I would think zones 8-5 if you are able to get out at that time of year. I do ours when I do the roses at the same time.

A good rule of thumb is to prune your clematis when the forsythia start blooming.

That would be April instead of February. Thank you.

Sorry to correct...but group 2 are generally not to be prouned and if... between the flower preiods.. it means , just after the firs flowering

which flower on the previous season's growth
Some clems have to be prouned in early spring.. otherls like this ones between periods and others.. the early ones just after the flowering time.
