Clematis seed heads

If I remove the dead flower heads from my Clematis, would it encourage the vines to rebloom more vigorously? The varieties I have are supposed to rebloom but do so only sporadically.
Any thoughts?

Yes cut them off and that will keep them blooming!

Thank you. Loved the pix of Clemmies that you posted in June. They are just beautiful!! Off to trim the heads and battle the robin-sized mosquitoes that inhabit my back yard. LOL

Thank you for your comments govgirl75! We don't do what we should here, we have a few that we allow to grow and bloom. Deadheading them until we hit those high temps for us out here, one week in the 90+ degrees and things here fry. I cut them back and with our cooler falls I will get them to bloom again! Today I took all 4 of the 5 down to a foot tall. The one is just now blooming, the other two are the Artic Queen and Multi Blue.

Hey I didn't know you could cut the flower seeds off to make them rebloom! I just let them do thier thing and thought that was it LOL.

Does that work on all of them?

Annie, we deadhead them all and you see how loaded they are! They keep blooming until they fry due to the extreme heat. I know some may not agree with the drastic cutting back like we do but instead of seeing them fry we feel this is best. We get to see them bloom twice due to our milder falls, we also see the poppies do the same. If you want to allow them to go to seed, there is almost a 3 year period to see them grow to bloom. We just waited 3 years to see some awesome blue seeds come to life.
