happy fish

Post by gardenkat »

I have yet to see my first water lily bloom of the year, but besides that all is well with my little pond. Plants are growing, water is clear, fish seem healthy and happy. Lets see some pics of your pond!

Holy wow! How can you find the fishes with all the plants in there? Wheweeeeeeeeeee! Love youfish and your pond. What do you do in the winter with them? I remember granny used to put hers in the old michigan basement in a big ol' tub for the winter. Ahhhhhhhhhhh the memories :)

wishiwere-having all those plants in the pond keeps the algae down. At this time of year the water hyacinths are multiplying so fast I have to pull some out every few days and throw them on the compost pile. But I can still see my fish, especially when I call them, they know it's feeding time and they make a beeline to any "open" spots in the plant cover. They stay in the pond during the winter, I use a de-icer to keep a hole in the ice.
Lisa, I love the mechanical clown fish-too cute!

How deep is it? Looks so nice! Always wanted one, just thought it would be a lot of work emptying every fall? You don't though huh? That would be great. So is it in sun or shade?
