Water hyacynth

Post by Tundra_Queen »

They are both blooming. This is the one I have in the rain barrel. It is yellow for some reason, but this is the first time I have grown them in the barrel. It's growing sort of more horizontal than they have in previous years too. But at least it is blooming.

They are yellowing, because rain water has no nutrients.

Josh, I had put fertilizer in there to be able to fertilze my pots with warm water. The water started getting a bit of algae in it, so I stuck the hyacynths in it to clear it up which it did. I did throw some fertilizer in the rain barrel again last night. So I guess I will just have to keep doing it while it is in there.

The others in the pond with the fish are not as green as previous years either for some reason.
