We just finished putting in a new stream. I still have some planting to do and mulching.
It is about 30 feet long. This is an area that used to be a drainage ditch along the edge of our property. We bought another 25 feet of land and built raised beds past the ditch thinking I would still need the ditch. The raised beds redirected the water so well that the ditch was no longer necessary. Since I already had the bridge across there it was easy to envision a stream.
I like the way it turned out looking to the west.
Looking to the east I still need something at the end. It is shady there, but I need some kind of tall plant or something to stop the eye.
Any suggestions? I just put the canna there so I don't know how well it will do there. The tree to the left(south) is a young ash so it will either die from the ash borers when they get in my area or it will get pretty big. On the other side is a small bur oak about 6 feet further downstream.
etween the 2 I expect it will be in total shade in a few years.
Here's a closer view from the bridge of where I need height.
Just behind the rocks.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can put there???

Thanks everyone for the complements.
I bought a hydrangea to plant behind the rocks next to the waterfall. I got a small one so I put it in a big pot for the summer to add height and I'll put it in the ground in the fall.
