Very nice berries! I bet the wildlife loves it!

It's a good sized tree, but I've never seen one with berries! They look like raspberries or blackberries? Anyone?

A friend has a mulberry tree which is over 400 years old. Even though it is on her land it is protected and she has to get a permit to do anything to it, for instance, should it need pruning.

Edible?

Post by DryGulch »

The berries are edible right? Didn't people used to put down sheets and catch the berries?

Yeah it's a mulberry tree :)
We have a couple here. They are huge.

Yep you can eat them. Growing up we use to get them and put them in milk and sugar and eat em!

But they are good just picked off the tree too :)

Thanks Everyone! :D

These are in a county park and surprisingly, there were few birds in them. I expected them to be covered as they would at our home when berries ripened. So possible, they are not quite ripe yet?

We'll have to go back and sit under it (or rather near it) to get some good shots of what enjoys it's fruits! Thanks again!
