Hey all,

Just a few pics of my favorite little hydrangea serrata 'Woodlander'. This is the only hydrangea that will bloom like crazy for me in zone 5b.

So Cute!! How big is it?

Hi Jane, it's not very tall, maybe about 3.5 feet high and 4' wide. It kind of rambled this year and looks like it's going to eat Fragrant Bouquet. The leaves and flowers are smaller than other hydrangeas of this type.

Very pretty! I need more intermediate height shrubs and this one would look great... thanks for the ID!

I, too, have found Woodlander to be a totally reliable bloomer in zone 5 (western suburbs of Chicago). I purchased my first Woodlander in 2003 and was so pleased with it that I had to have more (for a total of 8). It requires no winter protection here, and all 8 have been through winters as cold as -25F and springs with late frosts, with no dieback. Woodlander is definitely a gem that ought to get a lot more attention in zone 5.
