Toad lilies and stuff.

Post by Gruntfuttock »

I noticed the toad lilies were in flower this evening so I went into the garden to see what else is taking advantage of the late summer heat wave.

Very Nice! Great pictures too. What is that Fremontodendron? A shrub? Looks interesting... I like the intresting perspective on your very clear picture of the Sweet Autumn. A friend gave me a clematis purchased at one of the big box stores labeled as Dutchess of Edinburgh. This is the first yr it has bloomed and now from the clarity of your photo I can definitely ID it as SA. I had a SA for a couple yrs until it succumbed to a harsh winter. We'll see how long this one goes... Thanks for sharing.

Fremontodendron californicum to give it its full name is a tree. I planted it last year at 4' it is beside a 6' fence panel in the picture and is at least 6' wide.

The clematis trellis is L shaped with a roof across the corner. I reached up over the roof and pointed the camera and clicked. So the flowers in the picture are on the roof.
