Sorry, Claudia, we hired it done.

It is stamped concrete, Paul, colored "light slate". The edge has some red (same color as roof) added on the surface and the entire patio has "marbling" added as well. The surface-applied colors are protected by a sealer which needs to be re-applied every few years, depending on use and wear. We do not use the patio (as added living area) because it faces south and consequently is quite hot but I drive my car across it to reach the garage on left.

Love the patio area and I am also fond of your roof. DH and I disagree on the steel roof (he thinks dangerous with snow and ice sliding) But I love the look--Also pretty much lifetime  Anyway NICE improvement!

Very  They did a great job and it looks spectacular with that roof~ I love that stamped concrete. Could you get a closer up of one of them? They look neat!

The border was poured first and then the center the next day. There are just the two separate pieces. The other lines were cut in (not all the way through) in case the concrete wants to crack; this way it will crack in a straight line.

That's a great way to make a patio.

Very funny, KTH! The first pic was taken by the contractor with a SLR on a brighter day and I took the second one with my digital. It does look like the red of the roof is reflected by the white siding. Yes, it is white.

It's still beautiful and really makes that area look sharp!! Tell your contractor I'm sure he will have plenty of work, are you a reference?

We have told the contractor that he is welcome to bring clients to see the job.

A couple of other views of the house below. I cannot plant anything along the side of the patio because DH needs to be able to get in there with the tractor to remove all the snow that comes off the three roofs. I make up for it on other sides.

Just gorgeous, Viktoria! Would you mind sharing what that tall, orange-flowered plant is in the last picture?

Those are native black-eyed Susans, Charla, Rudbeckia hirta and R. triloba. They are not really orange but a golden yellow, with black centers. I always leave one of each to self-sow and weed out excess plants. Great for butterflies and bouquets and ever so easy!

Viktoria! That's a great job! I love it!

Your yards are beautiful! WOWZER! :o

Another question about that roof! I really like that! When it rains, do you hear the pitter-patter?

I think we are so accustomed to the sound of rain on the roof, Jane, that we do not hear it at all. The master bedroom is on the first floor; we might notice the sound if we were on the second.

The one time (or few) that we are aware of noise is when there is freezing rain in the winter and the ice and snow crash from the roof to the porch roof. Sometimes it sounds like the porch roof will surely collapse, yet there is not a dent in it.
