What plants do you have?

Mine is a work in progress. I have two golden vicary at the back. Then I've planted one white peony, one pink peony, a 'Red Rocks' beardtongue, 'Purplelicious' veronica, 'Morning Lights' and 'Summer Nights' larkspur, a short purple bee balm, some 'Sunrise' coneflowers that got chewed nearly to death, and a pincushion flower.

Next I'm going to plant 'Aurora Lavender' delphium, yellow sneezeweed, betony and a 'Coconut Lime' coneflower.

I got some of those planted today, but I guess I didn't enlarge the bed enough to plant the betony.

We have several pure sun beds and a wide range of sun lovers. We are trying to keep the photos on current on
our PB site for folks that want to see the yard. Link can be found on our website. I'll be adding more photos after
the first of the month as we are in the full swing of cutting back and moving plants again!

So, tell me please, do you and your husband sell plants for a living?

MR, I have friends and DH that push me into this!! If I have my way I'd hord them all as they are so pretty in the yard. I tell some of my friends,
they can adopt a plant and come visit it when they like.

Well, I've always thought your landscaping looked professional and perfect unlike mine. Do you ever have hired help?

We bought this our first home in the fall of 1994. I had to do most of the planting myself and knew very little about gardening except the different requirements of sun and shade. It has been trial and error. And my husband has never been interested in gardening nor in getting too involved with my hobby. The first time I asked him to sit with me on our new patio, he brought a book to read! Needless to say, I was flabbergasted. Now he leaves his books and magazines in the house. But since the patio is in full sun most of the day, he'll soon be staying indoors every evening.

MR, I'm an artist by trade and learn by the seat of my plants when it came to this stuff. I would get a book and read it from cover to cover and everyone will tell you nothing
in my yard is permanent, but these days fewer species are being moved. I have species that should be in shade but are in full sun and full sun species that are in partial shade, go figure. I have landscape design for several folks and all I ask is for a few photos to start out with. A list of your favorite flowers and sun or shaded area. I tell folks that what we have created here has taken years to create. You will find me in the garden most of the day, rain or shine. MR, can you believe my DH is the same as yours? He will learn if he wants to enjoy those veggies, right?? Get him some of those neat tools to use, also!

Well, I'm in a mood! People had kept me busy and I didn't get out there to inspect my sunny bed until last night. The rabbits had done their job! Should I spray Liquid Fence around all the beds?

I'm really aggravated!

Hi! Midnight Reiter. I have some sunny borders. I live in zone 5a. Some plants that you haven't mentioned that I like a lot, are the following:

Ibiris/Candytuft: spring/white and evergreen
Arabis: spring, white or mauve. There is also a variegated form that I bought last summer
Aubrietia/Rockcress: spring,mauve. Like Arabis, there is a pretty variegated leaf form which is a bit trickier to grow.
Rudbeckia/Black Eyed Susan; 'Goldsturm' late summer, yellow. Have found it does not like acidic soil
Coreopsis:'Zagreb', 'Moonbeam' yellow, bloom from early summer to fall
Summer Plox (paniculata): two that I really like are 'David' (white) and 'Orange Perfection' (actually a salmon colour)
Euphorbia polychroma; spring, yellow
Salvia: 'May Night', early summer (purple)
Sedums: "Autumn Joy' and "Brilliant'
Siberian Irises: spring-many colours
Lavender: I recently bought a variegated one, probably borderline in my zone
Tradescantia: colours ,white, blue, fuchsia and yellow leaved 'Sweet Kate'
Grasses: Blue Oatgrass 'Saphirsprudel' and festuca 'Elijah Blue' and 'Bolder Blue'
Perennial geraniums of all kinds. 'Rozanne' blooms all summer
Daisies
Oenothera/Evening Primrose: yellow-an oldie. The foliage turns red after blooming.
Campanula persicifolia,, blue and white - will bloom a long time if deadheaded
Liatris spicata/Spiked gayfeather: purple and white. I only have the purple 'Kobold'. Tolerates a bit of shade. I like
the foliage after the blooms fade.
Centaurea montana/Cornflower/Bachelor's Button: spring, blue- leaves / - can be a bit invasive but is easily controlled.

The critters leave your plants alone? In my yard, the deer eat almost everything except the ones I have now.
