Interesting thought there Gunt, gives one food for thought. Here is the bloom and yes the blue is there on the edge. She tops in at 9 1/2" X 6 1/2" and was sown last fall.

My seedpods are huge and spiny! The plants themselves, however, look horrible. One of the three surviving seedlings from the cross was way behind the others in developing, and looks as if it may bloom in a couple weeks. Perhaps I should remove its anthers before it opens and attempt to fertilize it with Brugmansia 'Raffaella' pollen.

Hey John, This has been such an old year we are also seeing Dats not take off. I have a batch of our favorites D. rubra out back and I have a whole section in the center that refused to keep up pace with the rest of the patch. Some of the foilage decided to decline where others just are doing great!! We sure are :hmm: ? I can tell you what the experts told me, as long as nothing else gets to the Stigma and the Anthers are not fluffy so they self pollinate, you know what you need to do.
So we cut the calyx open early while the anthers are still wet adn the corolla tube hasn't poke outward to pollinate, then make sure nothing gets into it to spoil your fun!! I am telling everyone to do what they can with a Brugmansia pollen of their chose. If no Brugmansia pollen then a Dat will work. We are all working on different paths.

I did get the D. Missouri Marble replaced and they are so small I'm looking at over wintering them inside due to their late arrivals. I will leave one out but knowing these weren't clones like the first one we got from TNN we are worried that we might loose them.

Datmansia Pod B opened this am and she measured 11 1/2" X 8 1/2" and yes I had to stand upside down to get this shot of how ruffled it was. The center was a pale green and yellow but she was so pure white.

I have vestigial seed pods which don't look like they are going to swell. I manually polinated some flowers, but to no avail. I was thinking they were mules.
I lied. The vestigial pods are no longer that, they are swelling, but I expect to move house in Mid-September and don't expect them to be ripe in time for the move. I am moving over 250 miles away from here, but I have one in a pot which is in bud.

Hey, dig it up now and put it in a pot. Just be careful when you do so.

We have our first seedpod on Project B that we allowed to open/self pollinate. All the Datura seedpods we have come in contact with have had spikey points that are let's say very dangerous!! This seedpod is so soft and flexible to the touch!!

All my project B seedlings damped off. I don't know why.

That seedpod will NOT stay soft to the touch! Mine finally ripened and split open, revealing many seeds.
