a tulip question

I put in a bunch of tulips in the fall. I put down some wire to keep out animals from digging them up. They are coming up threw it now, should I remove the wire mesh, or will they come up ok. They are just starting so I could just pull it up and recover with the mulch. It is an inch and a half or so hole for them to come up threw. Am I making sense?

Leave it on and they should do just fine. That way the squirrels won't take them away.

I agree leave the wire there, they will be ok growing thru it.
