How Long do datura seeds take?

Use this area to talk about tender plants such as annuals, tropicals, and houseplants.

How Long do datura seeds take?

Post by Dirtyhands »

I have some that I started on April first but I don't see anything coming up yet? Do they take a long time and should I wait or has it been to long and time to start a few more?

I have never planted these myself, but according to the Park’s Germination/Culture guide it takes 30 days for germination. It also says that a cool place is needed for germination. Hang in there. I know I go crazy when I don’t see any signs of life after 2 weeks.

Thanks, :) I will wait another week and it will be a month.

I sure hope I can get them to grow. I love how they look.

It really depends on the age of the seeds and did you soak them first? I know of folks that start they in a damp papertowel on top of the refridg. But again I use the karma cocktail on them and they sprout really fast!

The particular species of Datura in question is important, some of the more popularly grown kinds take 1-3 weeks or longer, others will take even longer; certain Datura require special treatment. What kind are you growing?

I would like to know about the Karma cocktail.
