Any AV fanciers?

Use this area to talk about tender plants such as annuals, tropicals, and houseplants.

Any AV fanciers?

Post by party_music50 »

Hi!

I found this site because of my recent hosta passion, but my real "thing" is African Violets. Started taking piano lessons at the age of 8 and my piano teacher gave me my first one. Here's just a small sampler of some of my babies -- I grow them on every nook-and-cranny of windowsill available:

I've never tried hybridizing my own (yet!) lol!!!

Any other AV-fanciers out there?

Thanks, Nathalie23. :)

I don't find many people that like African Violets. (obviously. lol!) I love them because they're in bloom year-round, and I can get my hands in the dirt inside in the winter here. lol!

Well... let me end by showing you the BIGGEST flowers I've ever seen on an AV: I started all 3 plants from leaves, they are standards (normal size) and all plants are approximately 6-8 months old, in 2 1/2" pots. The flower I'm holding is HUGE. It was huge on the mother plant, and is huge on every 'baby'. It's stunning (to me!). Hope you enjoy it. :)

Very  But they don't like me! :D I'm not good at remembering to care for plants once the snow hits and I start quilting and such. Poor things. Only indoor plants that grow for me, are spiders, aloe, and cactii. :D

But I too can appreciate others beauties! They look so healthy! Good growing!
