Bacopa

Post by eastwood2007 »

I love this new Bacopa. I tried to get the colors right, but they aren't quite. The leaves are a bright chartreuse and the flowers are a pale lavender/blue. I couldn't find the plant tag, but it was a new intro last year.

I have this too and like you can’t find the tag. The foliage on mine is looking good, a little darker green then yours, but I am not getting many flowers. I have the white not far from it and it is blooming nicely. Not sure what is up with it.

After looking closer at mine I don’t think we have the same kind. My leaves are much smaller and darker green. But the blooms look to be about the same color. I don’t know what happened but the sucker is now blooming like crazy. Might be the fish emulsion I gave it.
But it just doesn’t look as good as yours as mine is in a boring hanging basket and not a cute little pig. I really love that pig!!

Thanks, Madmama! The little piggy was my mom's. I have had it 6 years now, and have never really found just the right thing to put in it....I think the Bacopa is going to stay! Even DH commented on it yesterday... :D

Thanks, everyone!

Nathalie, there's just one bacopa in the piggy. :D The piggy is just about 15" long x 10" high. That's a 28-30" bistro table it is sitting on. Lots of places sell the piggies. I see them almost everywhere they have a large selection of clay pottery.

It was my momma's favorite pot, but I have never found anything that would grow well in it, as the opening is narrower than the pot part. I almost killed this bacopa before I got it planted in there, so I really didn't have much hope. This bacopa must be sturdy! I really want to find the tag so I know what it is. I got it at my favorite garden center which closed this summer due to owners retiring. I have never seen the bacopa anywhere else, but the gal told me it was new last year...I hope it will carry over in my greenhouse for he winter...

I didn't realize that the pig was so tiny!!!! My mother had already keep a bacopa in her house without any special attention so I figure that it will be very happy in your green house! :D

Oh, that's good news, Nathalie. I always have to take Piggy in anyway so he doesn't freeze and break.

Here's an updated pic of piggy and bacopa. It is just holding so well. I am thrilled with this. I have so many things I try that don't perform well, but I think this is a keeper. :D
