I've got a huge one.

Use this area to talk about tender plants such as annuals, tropicals, and houseplants.

Aw, thanks Karma, this is from a batch of seeds I got from a friend in Italy, they have very little lilac on them, but they can be big.

That's what I call it, but there is some debate whether it should be moved in with the d. meteloides.

What's that top one? It looks like lilac la fleur with more blue. (T&M call it a large flowered metel. Large?) and they charge £32.06 ($64.12) for 250 seeds. .

Soooo Beautiful!!

How can such an alluring plant be so poisonous?!? It just lures you into it's web with those beautiful curling tendrils at the blossom edge....ahhhhhhh :o

I had some purple tripple datura last year. Unfortunately, I got too busy and forgot to get out there and save seeds. :-?

LUCKY ME THO !! I was surprised 3 came up on their own! I promised Karma some seeds last year....THIS year I'll pay more attention. Two of the plants have formed huge buds...can't wait!........p

How absolutely beautiful! My next door neighbor has an apricot datura. I could gather all the seeds I might want but I'm afraid to have the plant around my pugs.

I don't think there is a more understated and elegant flower!

All I know is they're poisonous - can anyone tell me in what way? Would a small dog have to chew on a leaf, stem or fallen bloom?

Daturas contain a halucinagenic drug which can give very bad trips. The whole plant is poisonous.

Do your dogs normally chew on plants?

Squash Blossom, Gruntfuttock is correct in what he stated for humans. I have yet to see a dead insect drop over for all the holes they chewed in one or the squirrels that love to climb them, animals are smarter than humans!! We had a really sick g-pig that had tumors and the vet said there was nothing they would do for it. I thought will since the kids could see putting it down I would help it out and feed it a datura leaf. Long story short, the G-pig got better and got a daily dose of either brug or dat leaves all summer long. We even noted the lumps getting smaller and when we didn't have those leaves available the g-pig passed away.
Go figure that one out??

Only one of my pugs is bad about chewing on sticks and stuff she finds outside. Gumdrop has brought enough sticks in through the doggie door to build a mini-beaver dam.

I don't think she'd ever chew on anything soft like a leaf or fallen bloom - and I keep a few plants outside the picket fence on the driveway turnaround pad.

I would love to grow one. I had a solid white plant years ago and I can't even remember what happened to it. Maybe I chewed some of the leaves!!
