Voodoo plant (pics added)

Post by Annie »

I had gotten a voodoo plant from a lady that does our taxes, early this spring. It bloomed and boy I must say it has it's own smell which isn't bad if you like the smell of a dead animal

But anyway I planted it outside and promptly forgot all about it being there. I was out mowing my yard and decided to just mow down the "new" bed I had made a few days before my heart attack. The one that runs along side my house. You know the one that turned into a grass/weed/flower bed? :-?

Saw a plant I KNEW wasn't a weed so I took a closer look and lo and behold that bulb is growing! I never would have known what it was if it weren't for the spotted trunk on it. It's pretty!

I'm glad it lived. There are 2 plants coming from the one bulb I had.

I hope there are several baby ones and then I can share!

I'll get a picture of the plant, it's really cool, just the flower stinks

Is this the voodoo lily? You stand the corm on a saucer and it flowers then when the flower dies down you plant it and the leaves sprout.

I had those in the 1970's but haven't seen them since.

Yep, when I got it from the lady it had already sprouted. Then I just set it in my kitchen and it grew and grew! No water or anything.
Then it bloomed PEEEEEEUUUU! I put it outside and after a bit I planted it.

I'll get that picture today and post it.
