Springtime prep for Elephant Ear?

I cut back an elephant ear and left it in the pot in a cool garage for the winter. Now that it's getting warmer should I start watering the plant or just leave it alone until it's ready to take back outside?

Thanks,
Rose

Hi Rose,

I would leave it alone until it is ready to go outside. They really won't start to grow again until they warm up a lot, and they store dry much better than wet so if it isn't using any water now then giving it some could risk rotting it.

In the past I would plant these outside then dig them up as a bulb and store them dry. I remember they would sit there for the longest time in the spring after I would replant them, but once that warm weather hit they grew like crazy. Once growing they loved lots of water, and I even planted a couple in pots for the edge of the pond.

Hope that helps!

Chris

Yes, that does help! I will just leave it alone!

Thanks
