Pineapples

Post by Soummer »

Just for fun, I started a couple of pineapples from crowns last year. They are growing but I think they need more light than they get in my sunniest room. But it's still pretty cold out! How much Michigan weather can they take? Any tricks to get them to produce?

Well its warmed up well enough to move them to the 3 season room. They seem happy enough. Soon, the great outdoors!

Less than a year. I just cut the top off, pulled off the bottom inch or so of leaves and put it in bromeliad potting soil. I kept it moist until I saw growth, then slacked off a bit

I really need to repot them. One pot has no drainage (which I discovered after putting them outside and after the first soaking=drowning rain!) and they are both a little small now.
