Hardy Geraniums...

Post by doublemom2 »

These are definitely workhorses of the garden! I just love them in with the hostas and shade plants, and some also do great in full sun... there is a hardy geranium for any spot!

Very pretty!!!

I love the hardy Geraniums too Andi! I have a small number of cultivars...Max Frei, Katherine Adele, Biokovo, Splish Splash, Johnson's Blue, New Dimension and three unknowns. I am partial to the shorter varieties as the larger ones tend to flop over in my garden.

Alexa from what I've read it reaches 12" in height with a spread of 30"-40". Not so tiny eh?! :wow: ;)

Peggy - here are a couple of great short ones that are wonderful and never flop over... 'Lawrence Flatman' is tiny, G. sanguineum and sanguineum 'Alba' are also wonderful, and mostly evergreen in my climate, and G. renardii has a wonderful mounding habit with fuzzy leaves, good for part shade.

Very pretty geraniums all. I have a few, not many, but agree they're true work horses.
