Pardancanda Seedlings Blooming
Moderator: Chris_W
For those of you asking about the plant, here's a pic of my mass of Pardancanda. Mostly oranges and yellows. Some the oranges are spotted, some are a bit pinkish, others are plain.
Here you can see the iris-like foliage and how the small flowers are held in loose clusters above the foliage. Even when they are not in bloom, the foliage is nice. It doesn't get ratty-looking like some foliage does.
One cool thing about these flowers is that when they are spent, those petals twist tighly closed. Really cool.
The name blackberry lily comes from the dark blackberry-like seed pods that form on the stalks after the flowers are done.
John, these are just my observations from growing these. You are the expert, please feel free to correct anything that I've mis-stated.
EDIT - Added another pic that shows the old blooms 'twisting' closed.

Jane that is really cool looking with that big bunch!! I think now that I *am* going to have yellows! One the bunch that I didn't tag, or lost the tag, they look yellowish.....I'm pretty sure.....Can't wait to see!!
Jackie & Pat, I am sure John or someone will share seeds later....remind me, and I will too....You must have some...

It was probably about 5 years ago that I bought one plant and planted it here. It self-seeds and I rip out handfuls in the spring when they come up and leave the ones that are growing where I want them. It's such a nice plant to work with this way. Self-seeds and spreads nicely, but not invasive and easy to pull out if you don't want it. Transplants easily too.
This is also where all the ones I gave to my Hallson's friends came from!
I hope you get those yellows, Lucy!!!

Are Pardsancanda Perrennials
and come back every year, or do they just drop seeds and reproduce that way . A curious Old Coot

LucyGoose!
I noticed a variation in the yellows too. I thought the lighter one might have been open longer when I saw it and the darker one was newly opened.
I love the bicolor too! It looks pinker than mine.
