Grocery store daisies - what are they really?

Post by Pandora »

I buy packages of yellow "daisies" at our Giant Eagle for some of us at work to cheer us up. My one friend says they make her smile everytime she looks at them.
Are they really daisies or chrysanthumums, or what? They have have what is commonly thought of as daisy form, but have bright yellow petals and yellow centers.
They have lasted 2 weeks in a vase. I'd like to grow some in my yard.

Thanks,

They are probably one of the chrysanthemums... perhaps like the ones shown on this page? http://www.mooseyscountrygarden.com/gar ... -life.html

I LOVE chrysanthemums as cut flowers because they last so long. Way back when... I would cut them and wear them in my hair. :) They'd last all day looking fresh!

Party, that is what I was suspecting. That is a shame, because I don't think mums will bloom very early here.
