O.C.'s 05 Containers

Post by oldcoot »

O.C. has a BUNCH of stuff planted in cotainers on his back deck, so he decided to show them to you and they start growing and again when they Bloom. He grows almost the same things on his dedck thatg he does in the yard. Seems b ecause of the extreme heat the deck rfeaches in diret sun inthe mid summer, the hings htg do besgt for him afe, Cannas, Liliums, Daylilies, Iris, Hosta, and this he is moving one of his minatufre Roses up thefre as soon as his DIRT comes in.................

The two photo are actually Liliums the same tub, but the Liliums were spred out too far apart to photograph together nicely. They are some that O.C. got from Chris last Spring and they bloomed BEAUTIFULLY, so he left them in the pot to enjoy again this summer.

Please enjoy

That VERY Funny and VERY Friendly Old Coot, named John, REALLY enjoying his spring...

No O.C. is Serious.

O.C. plants both Asiatics and Orientals in them, this year he is going to plant an O.T.. When he saw this, he went out and and checked his three outdoor beds. THEY ARE ALL COMING UP too. He credits all the rain we have had, good bone meal and fertilzer last fall, and some really beautiful sunny 80* days this week. He'll post pictures of them all, when they bloom. Actually last summer in the intense heat and drought, they bloomed extremely well, just didn't last as long as I bet they do this year. Really supprised me al now well they grew.

That FUNNY and VERY Friendly Old Coot named John, Saying he sure is enjoying this Spring weather !!!

Updates on O.C.'s pots

Post by oldcoot »

Thingies are really beging to make a move now. O.C. has Iris blooming in trays on his deck and Liliums getting ready to make a show. He just planted 5 more small pots full that he got from Chris the last of the month.. Cannas in the pots are NOT coming up yet, but a zillion are in the yard. SO if they DON'Tcome up, will be so easy to replace..

Thatg's Lambs Ear.

Post by oldcoot »

She gave me a lot of it last fall. O.C. put some in the yard, some in pots. It was LATE in the fall when he got it and a early freeze got MOST of it. Will post one of the ones in the yard later on. It seems to be doing real well. Puts up a pretty spike and bloom in late summer. Makes a great border plant as it spreads..............Leaf is fuzzy and has a velvety feel. Though once about putting some in the Rock Garfden Hosta bed for contrast, but when O.C. learned how bad it spread, he was afraid to.....

O.C. doesn't know for sure, but he asked the lady who gave it to him again, (asking for more this summer) and she swore it was Lamb's Ear.. O.C. wil check and see what he can find out about it.....

Oh, that might be Lamb's Ear! I have Lamb's Ear and it's different from the Lamb's Ear I had years ago. Are they really small reddish-purple flowers going up the spike?

I reall didn't do this group right this year, but I'll sure do better next year. Already getting an order ready for Chris to ship this fall.....

O.C. has 2 Dahalia plants that Joy brought him fom Charleston this spring ( O.C. couldn't go-it was a RED HAT thingie, so she brought him some some flower pods.) If he can keep them alive, he will post the pictures here when they bloom, because they too are in containers...Foliage and stems looking really good....

These are the most insane pictures OC has ever posted.

Post by oldcoot »

7 weeks ago, OC moved some Asiatic liliums from the front yard to his back deck in full sun. He put then in a mixture of that good compost he hasand Back Kow. His Moma said to make plants grow, they needed manure, so that is what he did and watered them well. With 7 weeks of 80-85* weather, full sun. this stupid Lilium must have thought it was spring. 2nd Pods this crazy Liliums. That have survived quite a few night of 35 * weather and still just kept growing.....That Old Coot named John

Expecting a hard freeze the last of the week, part of what you guys are getting. Will try to save them a little longer by covering them, but not holding out much hope. Would have been nice though wouldn't it ? Nice boquet for the Thanksgiving feed in. Our 30 days of feasting begins this Friday. Our senior group at church is having a big Feed Friday at noon, and THEN IT'S ON....(Keeps OC mind off spring.).

If all goes well and as planned, I should have about 20 Iris blooming on the deck this spring followed by 50-75 Liliums. Also have Tulips, Daffodills,Crocus , Hyacinths, Calla Lilies, and DUtch Iris. So it should be OC 's show place. THANK YOU LORD......John
