My favorite container of 09

Post by eastwood2007 »

I don't know what it is about this one, but I can spend lots of time looking at it. It was actually just a put-together from a few things I had leftover....white double impatiens and purple/blue lobelia

That is very pretty! Maybe I should try that combination between my hydrangeas next year. I only have shade along the north side of the house by the garage so that's where I planted my three hydrangeas.

Thanks, MR! I have trouble growing lobelia usually...don't know what I do wrong, but I just love the stuff and usually can't keep it going!

I'd like to try that in a blue and white porcelain container!

I cant get it to grow right, either. I have substituted Australian Fan Flower (scaveola) for it in containers. The color is pretty good, it is not as dense as lobelia, but it does trail if you want it to.

You may be keeping it too wet.

Thanks, Viktoria. That may be it. I had noticed that after not watering my pots till they were really dry today that one patch of lobelia had perked up...of course, I noticed this while I was giving it a big drink of water!!!! I'll back it off and see if that's it.
