Aren't they the ones that make a rea high pitched noise??
I always thought that was funny comming from such a big animal :lol: Sounds like a bird!

I've seen more elk herds in the last six months than I have seen in my entire life!
One field routinely hosts a herd of about 60, another herd crossed the highway to graze on the church lawn. A smaller herd was grazing on the steep hill where the highway exits. They were so close and above me. :eek: Cool underbellies!
Then there is the herd that crosses through my backyard to get to the other side. Thank goodness they prefer the buttercups!

We have Lone Elk Park right outside St. Louis with elk and bison. The elk look like draft horses with antlers, :eek: but soooo :cool: .

Joan, they do make a high pitched sound -- especially during "fall rut" (mating season). :oops:
