I have tons of these birds too LOL.
They are gluttuns!!! It only takes them about a day and a half to finish off the suet I put out.
But I guess they gotta eat too!

As much as I dislike them, they are quite intelligent and I've heard them mimicking other birds.

I can't say I don't like them, and they are pretty birds. Just wish they wouldn't come to the yard in droves!!

Debbie, they leave from up north? I didn't know that.
Well heck no wonder we have thousands of them

Maybe I'll ship a few back to ya if ya miss them

Well, we haven't seen too many Strarling yet and we do have alot in the summer. I really don't like them, except that they do eat grubs and I suppose thet is good, but they also go after the baby birds in our nests.

Great pic Annie. I really don't like them either. :???: I finally put my suet in a cage so they couldn't get to it. Within 24 hours they could eat the whole thing! :o

O.C. has a few STarlings.

In the early spring we have a few stay overs They seem to make two passes over us. One is late spring, which is not too many, and about the first frostg, there are thousands of them in the trees, it lo0oks like. You can hear there squaking inside the house with the doors shut. Seem to liked to roost in the trees in the back woods. They also cover O.C.'s front yard sometimes in the fall. In the spring they don't stay long. O.C. guesses that they leave to come see you.

I have never see one this close. It's a beauty. Where did you take the picture. It looks so close.

He is right outside my livingroom window :)
I keep my tripod on a small end table right in front of the window.
It's where I keep my bird feeders. He is stitting on one about 6 ft from the window. They aren't spookie birds at all! They would rather stay and eat all the food LOL.

Man, I hate those things. pretty as they are, they are so nasty! I compare to brown headed cow birds here. They come in mid-spring, cause a ruckus for a few weeks and then leave! TH! A few come around till june then are gone till they pass back through in the fall. I am soooooooooooo glad they aren't around all summer. I think we need open season on them instead of the 'mourning doves' :) Just kidding............

We have the starlings all year long. The're starting to build nest in the eaves of my garage about now. Because they aren't native birds here, they aren't protected by any seasonal hunt. :D

Ounce for ounce, wouldn't you think they'd have as much meat on them?

They are stocky little birds but, being trash eaters, I doubt the'd be any good to eat. Did I say that with my outloud voice? :D

What bird doesn't eat trash really? I mean, would you pick through birdy doo-doo to find a seed or two to eat? :)

Night OED! :)

Several natural predators eat Japanese beetles. Among birds, only starlings eat the beetles, but several others eat the larvae in the spring.

Looks like everything in God's natures has a purpose.. O.C. has a problem with them on his Roses. Never seems to be a starliing around when you need one.............
