I don't THINK that's one, but there is a fuzzy white caterpillar that packs a pretty good sting from some of it's spines.

We touched him yesterday, and no sting.

I did a search on google, and an albino wooly bear caterpillar came up. That's the closest thing I've found to this guy, and we do have regular wooly bears, so that could be it.

Me either. I don't think they're all that common.

I've looked all over the internet, and this is the only site that mentions albino wooly bears:

http://www.robsplants.com/critters/crawlers.php

There's a good picture there. Not sure if it's the same as my little furball, but it could be.

Oh No! This may be cute but it sure is deadly. 3 or 4 days ago I was walking past a large leafy bush (looks like lilac leaves), and I though I need to do a little trimming. There wasn't one caterpillar on the bush. It is aobut 6' high and about at least 12 feet around. Today, I was walking by and those cute fuzzy white Killerpillars ate 3/4 of the leaves off that bush. I mean devoured it. There are so many on there it looks like white sap. Even though caterpillars are plenty here inN.E. Pa. I never really had an problems with them even though I live in the country. I have witnessed the damage done by caterpillars plenty of times but never like this and this fast. Tomorrow I am contacting PennState AG extension to find out what these are before they go to other trees.

I think it may be a flannel moth larva, Megalopygidae. I could not find out if they range to Washington state. There are 11 kinds in North America, so it may be possible that yours is one of them.
