the class of 2005 (20 young birds) raised in wisconsin, is on its way to florida. they are being led by ultra-lights. today they crossed the illinois-indiana state line and are in benton county, indiana. to follow their progress go to
www.operationmigration.org click on "in the field" or "field journal" located on the left side of the page. there also is a chart that shows where the adult birds from the previous 4 years are/were located.

I'm glad to see they are closing in on their goal. What a tough time they've had this year. I haven't checked the website lately, so I do appreciate you updating us here, phloxywis!

cranes divided,7 advance to cook co. ga.-12 back to terrell

Post by phloxywis »

the pilots had a rough day today. the cranes did not want to battle the winds. they all were in flight--and 7 advanced to the next stop in cook co. ga.----but 12 turned around and went back to the starting point in terrell co. ga. with the next flight, they plan to bring the 12 stragglers to cook co. georgia so there again will be one group. there's a lot more verbage on today's flight at
