Cooper's Hawk

I caught this guy sitting by one of our bird feeders.
I think he was looking for lunch.

Beautiful pics! I have a couple hawks that seem to be trying to stake their territory near my feeders too! I feel bad that I'm inviting birds in and they're becoming the "hunted".....suppose it's the old food chain thing.

I love the birds of prey too....just not at the bird feeders!.....p

:o Awesome pics! This guy/girl is SO handsome! But that said I still wouldn't want to see it hanging out of my feeders for lunch...

All of my picture's are free to use anyway anyone wants to, I take it as a compliment that you want to use it.
To get a picture of a hawk like that was pure luck anyway, so I am glad to be able to share it.

Beautiful shot!

Yep, we get them at our bird feeders too. It makes me have mixed feelings about feeding the birds. I guess the songbird might get caught anyway and while they are alive I have made their winter a little more enjoyable and I get to see them.

We also have the red tailed hawk. I think one actually built a nest behind our house. Our squirrel population has gone from about 12 to 3, so I wonder if it was the hawk.

I wish they would go after rabbits instead, no matter what I wrap, cover or fence in, the rabbits will still ruin something this winter.
I don't mind the hawks to much, most of the time I see feathers, it's from a House Sparrow.
