I was surprized to see this bird drinking from my Brugs this summer! There must have been 7 or 8 that came in for a sip. I thought all parts of Brugs were poisonious!!! :o

I think its a pine warbeler?

hostapazoola that or he is eating insects or hiding from the area cats that hate the brugs? Great shots!! Animals are smart and they know what will protect them. We have a tree rat that loves to hide in ours so that the cats and hawk won't come in and get it. Again great shots!! I'm assuming this bird flew off fine?

Beautiful bird and you captured it nicely! We have lowland finches that also love the brugs with the hummers. They should be fine, I know the slugs eat them and I have yet to find them dead. Are those birds really that green?

I've seen Orioles poke holes, and get nectar from the base of opened scarlet honeysuckle flowers because their beaks were to large to fit down the flower like a hummer's bill. That doesn't look the same though.

KHT, thanks for the compliment on the photos. :D They're a dull olive green... I definately noticed the green right away. I knew it was a bird that I had never seen before. I scrambled to get some photos while they fluttered around, then ID'd them later. It was really cool! Do your hummers and finches drink the nector from your brugs or just hide from preditors? I've had slugs chew holes in mine to and have never found a dead one!

Hi OED! I know what your saying...they couldnt have tongues long enough to reach the nectar on that big flower! (unless maybe they're related to that guy from KISS  )
Maybe they are going after bugs or dew.

Hi Karma. I have a question. Our back deck faces south, and I want to put a couple of big pots out there with Brugs in them. Will that work? It gets alot of sun (when we have sun, if ever) Your Brugs are beautiful! Can you give me any tips on feeding, watering etc? I am hoping to have more time here on the site, now that Lew has the Laptop from Lingraphlica, it really will help him I think, and I want to get started on cleanup around here.
Lovin' the great northwest!
