Bird Porn

This little lady worked all afternoon to attract the male (oc almost missed) after about an hour she succeeded. The First picture OC has labeled Before the action. The second is what she looked like after wards. The eventually flew away together to start another Family OC taking it all in....

Blue Birds

Post by oldcoot »

Definitely not up to OC's best, but these Blue Birds built their nest in this box, given OC by his grandson. This is the second year they have built in here. It was shot, through OC's breakfast room window which unfortunately had a screen on it at that time. It has since been removed and OC hopes that if they come back next year he can do better.

In one, he is feeding the babies. As best as OC could tell there were three little ones in there. Sure keep the pair busy feeding them usually in 5 minute cycles. One would feed and then the other would come back and feed. They would take what ever they had in their mouths and poke it into the hungry little birds.

The one in flight was an accident. He was feeding and just as OC shot, he flew off into the sunset. Please enjoy

OC has REALLY enjoyed his new Camera and lenses. He can do so much MORE than he could last year. Learns something new about them everyday.......

The Grosbeak has been printed out and is ready to frame.

Thank you for enjoying OC effort to take pictures for you. He LOVES it too......

Mourning Doves on OC's deck

Post by oldcoot »

.OC has a flock of mourning doves (Zenaida macroura) in the woods behind his backyard fence. Every morning about 7:30 they come up for their morning ration of Safflower Seeds. If they eat all that is out there, OC puts some
more out at dinner for their 4:00 PM return. Just like clockwork. Have noticed quite a few small ones lately. Must have had an addition to their flock......:D :D These were actually made with OC's XT and Kit lens(18-55 mm) They were almost right in front of him, just outside the window he shoots from. Late afternoon shots. Will try to do better next time.......

Enjoy !! That Old Coot named John
